I've been making lavender sachets and lavender bags. Each lavender bag is stamped with a beautiful shabby chic design, and embellished with lace trim.

These are very romantic, and very pretty. You can hang in a wardrobe, to provide a lovely scent, or keep on display on a hook. They each have a jute loop.

Much of the lace I sourced in France. Each sachet contains a generous amount of lavender bought from my local organic lavender farm. The backs are a fine muslin showing off the lavender, but also ensuring the scent is released easily.

A gentle squeeze releases a wonderful lavender scent.

Personalised bunting - LOVE handmade letter bunting

I've created about 200 letters for personalised bunting orders, and love doing each one. So making a LOVE name bunting is something I really enjoy. I've used a selection of pretty Cath Kidston floral fabrics for this, and given it a blue theme.

Each letter is padded, set onto a template, and backed with felt - in this case a happy red felt.

The four fabrics complement each other beautifully, and this would look very pretty in any home. It would be a lovely Valentine's Day gift - and a gift that lasts.

I make each of my buntings to order and all vary in their use of fabrics - you can choose this one, which is ready now, or select your own fabrics.

Ships fabric linen mix iPad cover

I'm making these to order, after requests for iPad cases suitable for men. This is a gorgeous linen/cotton mix fabric printed with a ship and boat design. I've padded and interfaced, so it's soft but holds its shape well.

It's really lovely. After polling the men around me, I decided on a simple button closure - using a waxed cotton cord to wrap around the button. As there are two, it is very secure. I've chosen a boat themed button for the lower button.

This is made to order so you can specify the choice of gingham lining - blue or brown or green or red. Up to you! Please allow 7 days after ordering. The pattern placement will vary, but all will look stunning. The back is another part of the design.

Handmade iPad cover, Cath Kidston print fabric

I have two more iPad covers available - I've sold quite a few iPad covers now, and I love making these, as each is different. These will suit an iPad 1 or 2, and are patched from two fabrics. The back and front are the same fabrics.

Cath Kidston antique rose on white is patched with a soft green gingham. The case closes with a metal popper.

It is patched from the same green gingham, but this time complemented with Cath Kidston's gorgeous pink paisley.

Kindle case / eReader Sleeve - Made to order

I've started making Kindle cases. Because there's such a variety of eReaders, I'll make these to order once I know your particular model - whether it be Kindle or Kobo or Nook.

I've made up some samples to show my design. I love patchwork, so these are patchworked from two complementary fabrics, and themed for particular interest. I have a music lovers eReaders case:

I add a line of embroidery to most of my covers, if it suits the design, and they are all fully lined and padded for extra protection. They close with a velcro tab.

Fabric rabbits!

Two patchwork rabbits - one themed in purple, one in pink.

I've designed the pattern myself, based on watching my rabbits hopping. I wanted to capture that moment in mid leap.

The ears are from a fabric that has a handwritten script mentioning flowers from Shakespeare's time, while the eyes are buttons that I found at Liberty.

I've used another script fabric for their tummies, this time a Peter Pan inspired fabric about wishes and dreams, which seemed very appropriate for these special bunnies. The cheerful multicoloured print is a Kaffe Fassett! No one does patterns like Kaffee Fassett.

I can make rabbits from particular fabrics to order depending on which fabrics you would prefer, or which colours. Just ask!

I've been making my spaniels and dogs for quite a while now, and thought I'd show them here, as they've proved very popular.

I've always loved script fabrics, and I wanted to combine this design with some of my script fabrics, so each is a little different from what you may see elsewhere. The pattern is my own.

They work well with a variety of fabrics, but always with script ears! I've also been personalising with printed and sewn fabric labels

Handmade glasses cases - protect your specs!

My previous listings of glasses cases have proved very popular and I've now made another selection for you, ready for the summer. There's a wonderfully pretty postcard and roses fabric and the lovely rosali rose on blue:

There are lots of different prints to choose from. These are not designed for chunky summer sunglasses, but they will fit average-sized glasses and sunnies, as I've tried to show. If you're unsure, just send me the width of your glasses, and I'll let you know if they will suit. Or I can make a larger case if you need.

The cases are interlined with a soft wadding to provide that necessary protection, while a pretty, contrasting lining complements the outer fabric. An owl fabric case here is flanked by rose on blue rosali on the left and Cath Kidston's pink paisley on the right.

There is also a yacht themed case and a 'mom cooks' print, which is a lovely Japanese fabric.

Just let me know on ordering which you prefer. Some have an elastic and button closure, others have a ribbon or cord and button.

One-of-a-kind Sew Happy handbag!

I've completed another handbag, a gorgeous one-off, made from an absolutely stunning designer fabric. I'm calling it my stamp & letter bag, for obvious reasons.

This adds instant pizazz to any outfit, especially a blue outfit - it matches florals or jeans equally well.

The straps are long enough for you to carry it over your shoulder, or hang it on your arm. The bag measures approx 23 cm deep by 31 cm width (I measured the width with the bag laid flat, measuring across the top opening). The handles measure 50 cm. It is fully lined, with a blue cotton with white polka dots, and has a pocket made from the same text fabric. It's a truly lush fabric, with a wonderful suede effect feel.

Scottie dog wool bag. A fabulous one off.

I've listed this tartan wool applique bag on Folksy, here. This really is a unique bag, and has a lovely tactile feel, with suede handles and a button eye for the scottie, while I've chosen a blue tartan wool for the bag itself.

It is fully lined, in the same pretty floral sprig fabric I've used for the applique, and has a pocket and a magnetic clasp closure.

Lavender hearts - applique and patchwork rosali

I rarely list hearts, as I feel there are so many out there, but it's so amazing how everyone's hearts are so different depending on the fabric and ribbon combinations used. I thought I'd list a few, starting with two today, and see if anyone likes them. I teamed the ever-popular Cath Kidston rosal print, appliqueing a heart onto a blue and white striped cotton for my first choice.

I had great fun doing this - I've made plenty of hearts for my lovely local shop, where they are always popular, and I always enjoy thinking of new ways to do them and raiding my ribbons and buttons for those added extra touches.

I haven't got very much of the ribbon I used on this one left, which is a shame, as it's one of my favourites.

My second heart is a patchwork one, with added embellishment from a gorgeous cotton lace, threaded with ribbon. I had to add a little of the rosali to this one as well.

Patchwork hearts are lovely, as you never quite know how they will turn out.

Hand crochet/stitched hairbands - a pretty selection

Having daughters in the house is an excuse to have lots of pretty things - and hairbands are a must. I've made them lots over the years, but have never put them up on my blogshop. But these look so full of colour and the joys of spring, I couldn't resist.

They are on beautiful complementary cotton lace, stitched with elastic at the back. I've crocheted some, and stitched others.

The yoyo is Cath Kidston's gorgeous bubble rose fabric, which I've teamed with a Rowan cotton rose pink crochet flower - I do all the crochet - and a vintage button, so rather unique this one:

They are all different.

I've crocheted a rose, which I've popped on a brooch pin, so this doubles up - you can remove it to use just the lace as a hairband, and use the rose as a brooch, for a change.

New Listings - Ever So Cute Tooth Fairy Cushions

I've been designing some tooth fairy cushions, having on occasion popped my children's precious lost teeth in a small bag under their pillow, and then struggling to find said bag late at night! I have several ready and can use any fabric you'd like. This unicorn is from a gorgeous Liberty print, and features gold thread for the stars, which I've matched with a star print (please note it is a hot pink, not red as it seems to photograph that way). The star print forms the back of the cushion.

Another Liberty print cushion is shown on the right, together with a seaside themed cushion. The seaside print features a border and backing from an amazing script print which is pure fairy: 'Second star to the right and straight on till morning... I forgot: dust...'

Here are detailed shots. Each cushion is approx 20 cm square. They will be a lovely memory of early years.

Cute SEW HAPPY frog doorstop or paperweight

Meet Mrs Frog. She's weighted with dried beans, so is perfect as a doorstop, or as a desk paperweight. I've made her from a 40 year old pattern in my collection, which I've adjusted slightly because I wanted her to have a tongue... all frogs should have a tongue!

I've used a pair of boggle buttons, from my vintage collection. And a glass dragonfly bead has settled on her foot. She took a good couple of hours to make, so she's a bargain. I can make up a companion if you would like her to have a friend. Just let me know.

These chickens are guaranteed to make you smile! I've always loved making my chicken cushions and chicken doorstops, link here, and I've now made some lovely girlies that would make fabulous Christmas presents, or indeed, fabulous presents for any occasion - one would make a lovely housewarming gift.
So I'm introducing my chicken doorstops. They are made with a top quality designer upholstery fabric for stiffness, and each will be that little bit different. These are the first three.

The eyes on these three are double buttons, with the central button being a gingham one, while a cute gingham ribbon completes the look. They are the same on both sides.

They are weighted with large pebbles and plumped up with stuffing to make them soft. These are very tactile! Click on each picture for a closer look.

I've tested these on lots of family/friends, and all have loved them. They really do make people smile.

Unique organic lavender sachets - patched and embellished with sequins

I had a request for some purple themed items - purple is everywhere this season. For some time, I've had some absolutely gorgeous Eastern silk in a range of lush colours, and I remembered that purple was one of those colours. I love challenges and this was certainly a challenge, as I wanted to do something a little different to the sachets I've seen everywhere. I also wanted them to be that little bit extra special and eye catching, as deserves anything not found on the high street.

Looking through my fabrics, I also remembered the Cath Kidston purple paisley, and a purple check I picked up a while back. So I got playing... and these lavender sachets are the result. Each has been patched from the three fabrics. Some are backed with the check and some with the Cath Kidston paisley. Each has a gorgeous sequinned embellishment.

I had intended these to be pretty little drawer sachets, but they also pleaded to be hang-able, so I added a cute little gingham ribbon.

They are generously filled with lavender from my local lavender farm, one of the country's few certified organic lavender farms. I'm not always an organic addict, but I do believe lavender should be farmed organically, as it's such a magnet for bees, and after harvest, for us, so I do believe it's worth the slightly higher cost. Take a deep smell of this lavender and you know you aren't breathing in any peculiar chemicals. They measure 12 cm x 7 cm (4 1/2 in x 2 3/4 in).

Fabric fish - a quirky decoration for the home

Fish are fun to make, and these were actually created around the beautiful dragonfly beads they are eagerly trying to catch.

They just seemed to lend themselves to the idea of fish jumping up to catch them! I've made them in sets of three, making one fish slightly larger. They each have cute button eyes.

I've made some more necklaces this week, as they have proved so popular - thank you very much for your orders. I've made more hearts, as these ones seem to be especially popular. There's always something very special about heart jewellery, I think.

The first is made one from the ever popular rosali fabric, and am especially thrilled with this one. It's just so pretty this fabric, and it's destined to become a classic. How lovely to wear it!

Next, I've got a gorgeous one made from Cath Kidston's lush strawberry fabric:

all necklaces are made by myself from waxed cotton cord.

The lower one in the photograph above is another Cath Kidston, and very pretty indeed. I've set this slightly differently, to hang at an angle, as I thought it worked really well that way.

I've made a couple for friends which are filled with a little lavender - give a squeeze, and you release a beautiful smell (if you like lavender!).

Beautiful fabric jewellery necklace pendants - hearts, ovals, circles

Why not wear your favourite fabric as a piece of jewellery! I've been working on developing a number of designs for a series of necklaces and earrings, and I'm thrilled to be popping these fabric necklaces into my shop.

There are currently three designs to choose from, and an endless variation of fabrics. There are hearts.

Each can be matched up with earrings to make a set, though I haven't yet had a chance to finish and photograph the earrings. They are all based on an individually cut wood base, and all have slight padding to give a 3D effect.

They are backed with felt. And they are guaranteed to draw comments and attention when worn.

When you order, either specify a particular fabric you like and the shape, or please specify colour.

The necklaces are either a simple waxed cotton cord or waxed cord with organza ribbon - very pretty. Length is approx 44 cm, so they hang beautifully. I've popped one on my mannequin to give you an idea of the look:

Cute shoulder bags, perfect for Spring and Summer

I have a couple of gorgeous and very individual shoulder bags for you, made from absolutely beautiful fabrics.

These are perfect for popping a brush, purse and lippy in, for a summer evening, and I doubt you'll see another in the same fabrics!

There are two in this listing, but I'm happy to make in any fabric you see on my site, if I have enough. This one is made from a lush Andrew Martin fabric, with images on both sides, including an elephant!

The other is made from a Japanese fabric I've used for my glasses cases, which you can see in this listing here, while the latest listing for glasses cases is here . (I can make a matching case if you wish). The Japanese fabric has proved very popular.

Again, more of the same design on the reverse.

Both have a simple button finish, from my vintage collection, with a fabric loop to hook over. The opening is approx 24 cm from strap to strap, and the depth laid flat is approx 18 cm.

I've popped them under my mannequin to give you an idea of the look.

Gorgeous selection of fabric glasses cases: Treat your specs!

I made my first glasses case a long time ago, after having been guilty of popping my glasses into my bag, because I didn't like the bulky case that came with them. So I made myself a fabric case out of some of my favourite fabrics. It worked well and last year I decided to make some to pop on here. My previous listing (here) of glasses cases proved very popular and I've now made another selection for you.

Each case is slightly different, using fabrics from Laura Ashley, Cath Kidston, and Liberty, but also a rather lovely fabric I sourced in France (the geese!), a fab world traveller fabric, and a very funky and totally adorable cow/farm print I sourced in America. Some are patched from two different fabrics (the rosali check and rosali floral, and the one made from Cath Kidston red rose).

These are not designed for chunky summer sunglasses, but they will fit average-sized glasses and sunnies, as I've tried to show.

The sides are hand stitched, and they are interlined with a soft wadding. A pretty, contrasting lining complements the outer fabric.

Heart garlarnds in lush Cath Kidston fabrics

I've been busy making hearts and I have a selection of beautiful heart garlands for you.

Each garland has three hearts, one large and two smaller ones and they are perfect for fresh spring/summer decoration.

This one uses Cath Kidston's beautiful floral and gingham stripe, with green gingham hearts and cute button decoration, together with twine:

I'm really pleased with them. Each garland has variations in buttons, or the use of twine or ribbon, and each is neatly backed with felt.

This one uses Cath Kidston's green paisley and red gingham hearts topped with mother of pearl buttons...

Fun padded cosy tea cosies... with Cath Kidston fabric

These are fun and are guaranteed to add a splash of colour to anyone's kitchen. I've stitched them to fit an average sized teapot (measurement flat across the base is 30 cm, total height is 22 cm) . They are each made from Cath Kidston bubbles fabric, which I always think is an incredibly cheerful design for use in the kitchen, and each is lined in a different gingham. They are padded thickly for keeping your pot warm.

New baby girl and boy hearts. Fabric hearts for special events!

I've just popped a set of hearts in the shop, and now I'm following with a new range of hearts for newborns I'm developing. These are guaranteed to add that special personal touch to celebrate the arrival of a baby. I can personalise with names if you wish. These particular hearts each have heart shaped buttons, and two have gingham backings - in pink or blue. One has been left in the same pretty spot fabric so it's neutral.

This is the neutral heart, with spot fabric back and front, and letter cubes spelling NEW BABY. A yellow heart button finishes it off perfectly.

This one's for a girl, with a pink gingham backing and ribbon, a pink heart, and letter cubes spelling GIRL.

I've been making hearts for a long time, but not put many in the Sew Happy shop. I tend to embellish my hearts with whatever's to hand and have a lot of fun with them.

Lavender drawer sachets ... Great fun!

Pineapples, pears, apples, and cherries abound on this wonderful fruit fabric print. I love this fabric because it makes me laugh. I've made it up into little lavender drawer sachets. My family love these, so I'm going to be using it to make more little things... watch this space!

Each sachet has a filling of lavender, sourced from my local organic lavender farm.

I've also added my Sew Happy label, so they could be hung on a wall to delicately fragrance a bathroom when squeezed... and provide a bit of a fun talking point.

Beautiful Christmas fabric letter garland: JOY

This was fun to make and looks lovely hanging across a mantelpiece ready for the Christmas season, as shown in the pictures.
At each end of the JOY, I have added a little handmade decorations - a present at one end, with suitable 'present' themed fabric

... and a Christmas stocking at the other.

The fabric is wonderful Christmas fabric... with three different patterns used, one for each letter. I especially like the fabric for the O, which is small sheep with Christmas trees. Take a close look... the Christmas trees on this fabric are topped with gold stars. It's really cute.

The letters are individually made, and are stiff. This is a garland you can bring out year after year.

They are padded and backed with red felt. They are sewn to a red ribbon, which I've looped at each end and finished with a button.

Fabric buckets! Ideal for Christmas or to fill with gifts

I have fabric buckets dotted all over the house and they are always useful for keeping bits and pieces in, and they look gorgeous. I use them for holding wool, ribbon, scraps of fabric, fabric quarters, notes and letters, and I have one for bits and pieces in the bathroom. Add a pot inside and they look good with a plant or with flowers inside. I've given a few ideas in the following photos. All the buckets are for sale, but without the contents (although the bird bucket and contents can be purchased as a gift bucket, if you are interested).

Try using a plastic pot insert and popping a plant into a fabric bucket and using as a table decoration, as shown here, this one made from Cath Kidston's bubbles fabric
lined with blue gingham.

Or use a bucket for holding napkins, as shown with the stunning Christmas fabric bucket
on the right.

The Christmas bucket would also be fabulous packed with yummy gifts and wrapped in cellophane (gifts shown here aren't included!)

You can fit quite a few bits and pieces into these:

This fabric really is gorgeous, lovely and thick... just take a closer look. What wonderful details to bring a festive feel.

Handmade 100% wool felted brooches: Gorgeous

I don't think you can ever have too many brooches to adorn outfits and bags. And handmade ones are always rather special. I've always loved felted brooches the most. They are hard-wearing, but also very pretty. And I love flowers (you only have to look at the rest of my site!) So it was only a little while before I began making them, cutting and sewing the felt into all sorts of different flower heads.
The first, below, Peony in burgandy, has touches of pink in the burgandy petals, which doesn't really show in the photo, but which is very pretty indeed. It measures approx 6.5 across.

This one, chrysanthemum in lilac, measures approx 7.5 cm across and has a centre pearlised bead.

This one, peony in purple (more a gorgeous purple shade, but lighter than the photograph makes it appear) measures approx 8 cm across.

This one, based loosely on a primrose, measures approx 7 cm across. A vintage buttons sets it off rather nicely.

And this one, a multi hued chrysanthemum, which measures approx 7 cm across.

Take your pick. My brooches are made from 100 % wool, which I've felted.

Perfect as a Christmas present, or as a treat for your outfit.

Cheerful Happy Home wallhanging

Just look at this gorgeous wall hanging, bursting with colour and guaranteed to cheer up a wall anywhere.

Washing Day Wall Hanging - Cath Kidston fabrics

What a pretty reminder of washing day to have hanging on your wall, perhaps above the washing machine or by the iron, or simply somewhere in the home!

This cheerful wallhanging has an apron, pair of shorts and a pretty dress, all composed from gorgeous Cath Kidston fabrics and hung on a washing line with mini pegs. The shorts have a glitter butterfly added, while a flower embellishes the apron. This is all my design and it is backed on strong hessian, with a Cath Kidston bubbles fabric backing. It is also padded inside, which gives it a lovely quilted effect.

The lettering is hand embroidered.

Pretty French fabric bucket set

I have fabric buckets dotted all over the house and they are incredibly useful. I use them for holding wool, ribbon, scraps of fabric, fabric quarters, notes and letters, and I even have one for bits and pieces in the bathroom. Add a pot inside, and they look gorgeous with a plant or flowers inside. This listing in the shop is for a set of two fabric buckets, which just can't be separated as they work so well together...

These are made from a summer floral fabric I found in France last year. I haven't much left, so there won't be many of these around. They are lined with a complimentary good quality pink gingham.

The buckets are stiffened with interfacing for stability.

Or they look fab on a bathroom shelf with special bottles and cotton wool balls.

This has a card inner, and is made from Laura Ashley's ever popular Bibi print. Lovely, lush fabric, which I've lined with a co-ordinating red gingham. It's a lovely pot for summer, especially to pop on an outdoor picnic table.

Laura Ashley Clarice fabric small summer shoulder bag

This is a cute little bag, perfect for spring and summer. I've made it out of Laura Ashley's gorgeous Clarice fabric, which has a pretty embroidered repeat rose motif.

It has a button closure - a silvery blue button laid on top of a cream, both vintage buttons so unique. The large button measures 33 mm in diameter.

The shoulder strap length makes it a perfect underarm carrying length.

It is lined with a pretty floral fabric, with a cream background - a perfect contrast to the Laura Ashley, I thought.

Altogether a very cute bag for an evening out, when you just need a few bits and bobs.

My chickens have a habit of disappearing fast into other people's homes, so these have all wandered off... except for the Laura Ashley bibi one on the second left in the above picture (red roses, with small green leaves on a cream/white background). If you fancy a chicken, let me know what fabric you would like and I'll make one especially for you. You can have them as a soft cushion or I can add a stone to weight it as a doorstop. Just ask!

This is made from another of my lovely French fabrics, a chicken print, matched with a vintage Sanderson and lined with a pretty red gingham. It's a beautiful quality fabric.

I've cut the pattern to include a different cockerel on each side, and the tote has an inside pocket.

I love this bucket - one of my favourites of all my buckets. I've used Cath Kidston bubble rose, now very difficult to get hold of, and Laura Ashley pink/white spot. Stiffened with interfacing and perfect for all sorts of purposes. I love making fabric buckets, and you'll find consquently a lot will be popping up in the shop, individually for the most part. However, this family really needs to stay together, I think, as it looks so pretty as a set.

This beautiful Union Jack applique tote bag has straps long enough so it can be comfortably carried over the shoulder. It is fully lined, with a pocket, and the bag and handles are stiffened with an interlining fabric. The fabric for the bag is Cath Kidston's antique rose.
